The one time soldiers of dragons

Created by dragons centuries ago as troops to fight in their war with the elves, the drakken have always devoted themselves to their creators even long after the fall of the dragons. These days they are scattered across the continent, living in small tribal units and revering their draconic ancestors as if gods. Because the drakken tribes evolved out of units of soldiers under a dragon's command, each tribe will dedicate its worship to the one dragon who historically led them into battle, considering all other dragons to be lesser to their own. This of course leads to heated rivalries, and sometimes even conflict, between the disparate tribes.

Lizard minds and bodies

The drakken are a bipedal lizard species, with thick scaly skin, long powerful tails and clawed hands. They possess an alien and inscrutable mindset, their desires and thoughts driven by a different set of basic principles than those of warm-blooded creatures.

Where humans dare not tread

Drakken typically live in small tribal units of no more than a couple of dozen, favouring living in secluded woods, marshes or mountains far away from populated urban areas and people who think of drakken as barbaric monsters. Because of the rivalries between different dragon worshiping tribes, it's common for geographic locations to be divided into different political territories based on the dragon worshiped by the tribes there. For example, all of the drakken tribes within one forest might worship one dragon whereas all the tribes living on a nearby mountain worship a different dragon.

Types of Drakken

Forang

The forang are the most nimble and lithe of the drakken. They typically fill out the roles of scouts, hunters and foragers in drakken tribes.

Wargen

The wargen fit the original mold that the dragons made the drakken in, as tall and muscular warriors and labourers. The wargen are the most numerous and fill out the bulk of a drakken tribe.

Yysil

The yysil are the rarest of the types of drakken, a tribe may have one among them if they're lucky. They are typically stunted in height and frial of body, often giving them the appearance of being old before their time. These drawbacks however are offset by the yysil being the most magically gifted of all drakken.
