Draconic
Overview
Unsurprisingly, the draconic are the dominant species in Draconis. Whether tiny and populous or colossal and peerless draconics can be found throughout these lands. There is an incredible diversity of creatures which can consider themselves draconic whether these are the terrestrial wyrms, drakes, salamanders, lindwurms or kirins; the aquatic sea serpents, hydras and leviathans; or aerial dragons, fae, wyverns, cocatrice and more. While the elemental ties, appearances and specific features can vary from region to region and individual to individual, all draconics have one feature in common: magic.
There are a number of characteristics shared by all of these creatures but by far the most important possession to each and every member of this species is their draconic soul. This draconic soul is what sets them apart from all other life and what enables their magic. While their magic is rooted in this draconic soul there are a number of physical characteristics which are still considered extremely powerful and unique to each creature. These generally include draconic bones, blood, scales and eyes. All of these features are present in almost all draconics and their draconic essence is infused into these features especially, even after death.
Classification
Because of the large number and diversity of Draconics, these creatures are split into several groups and these groups are all called different things, due to the region, time period, and type of species.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Draconics are capable of forming a unique bond with a single human. While all of them are capable of doing this, for some draconics this is controversial at best. Different societies, species and even regions view this bond differently.
It is far more ordinary, commonplace and considered less vulgar for smaller and more common draconics to form these partnerships but many of the largest and rarest of these creatures view humans as being beneath them. They are more likely to take on humans as worshippers or even pets, viewing them as no different than any other form of life in Draconis.
Yet there have been eras in Draconis' history where nearly every draconic possessed a human familiar regardless of what this relationship looked like and entire wars have been waged over the right to this partnership.
