Gwynn

Undying God of Compassion, Purity, and Abundance

Nascense Eternal, The Heir To Undeath

Gwynn is the youngest child of god-queen Millicent and king Celestor, a god loved by all who held domain over the art, beauty, and purity in the world. They were a creative child who spent countless mortal lifespans as a cystal dragon adolescent, embodying the joyful and whimsical nature of childhood when viewing the world. A bright individual who spread the ideas that one could embody understanding and optimism in even the darkest of places, they believed that the corrupt could be redeemed, a mindset that led to a betrayal by their half-siblings, who decimated their followers during the fracture and would cause the eternally nascent to meet their end in the same duskfall. Their death is the one that spelled the end for the inner god's time in the eyes of mortals, as shortly after Gwynn's death the deities scattered to all corners of Riven and the outer planes in horrific grief of their favorite god's death. Within this terrible moment, the first recorded death of a god was written into the annals of history.   However, perhaps due to the stolen rune of death being unable to truly kill a god or perhaps due to the blessed curse that bestowed Gwynn an endless nascence, his death was not a permenant one. Possibly in an attempt to rebirth the ever-young god, a fleshy, seed-like cocoon of exoskeletal form sprouted around the corpse of Gwynn. Their body, held together through this eldritch seedling, was unable to die a true death. From an endless nascence to an endless death they became known as the Heir to Undeath, the first of the undead that came to become a blight on the realms. From the seed, deathroot sprouted across the lands, giving rise to those who live in death through necromantic energy and the eventual discovery of spells learned from that magic.   The Nascence Eternal's followers are often rural healers, esteemed artists, and community philosophers, offering a voice of reason and empathy in angry and cynical times. They believe that compassion should take root above all in times of conflict, and that when outside of it that the art and beauty that others create in the world should be revered eternal to stave off hostile ideas. However, those who wish to utilize the godlike powers of undeath Gwynn was forcibly bestowed also seek refuge in the gods blooming light. These worshippers do not revere Gwynn or their ideas, only their power they were gifted over the medium of life and death. Often necromancers or undying clerics who utilize the blood-filled deathroot of the Heir of Undeath in their dark practices, they seek to exploit the powers Gwynn was bestowed for their own gain. Often these two sets of followers are at odds with eachother, the former seeking the aid of followers of ___ and ___ to defeat those who live in death and the later ressurecting undead armies to blight the havens of true worshippers.

Depiction

Gwynn, Nascence Eternal, was often depicted within forgotten tapestries and marble statues as a ever-young elven child of impossible grace and purity. Androgynous and eternally growing, they were framed by long, wavy, golden hair atop the body of a child. In their draconic form, they embodied that of a crystal dragon wyrmling. They were the inspiration for many early human and elven art pieces, and elements of their visage or symbol are included in most architecture from this age in towns and cities around Riven.
