Riven

The Kilned World, known colloquially as Riven (The Elvish word for Runeworld), is the primary planet within the material plane that all life stems from. It was here that the embers of the eternal flame first burned and here where the dragonrunes were forged for the pantheon of Riven. This mortal earth has seen eras of strife, prosperity, stagnation, and war under the oversight of the deities and their draconic guardians. It's seen the gods unified against common foes and divided against the primordial ideas of existence itself, races birthed from primal beings who've thrived under insurmountable odds, and factions and kingdoms rise and fall under the weight of conflict. Despite the tales of victory and triumph regarding mortalkind, Riven has reached a state of despondency and dividedness far worse than ever before. The Fracture, a war between the gods of good, neutrality, and evil that shook the Kilned World to it's deepest roots and divided the land and it's people eternally. Now, the eternal flame that guides and fills the souls of each living being on the planet is threatened to be snuffed out entirely, as the nations and people of this world either persevere of fall to darkness.

Continents

The Ashen Rend

Main Article: The Ashen Rend   Once home to the fire giants before their annexation to the great forges, the Ashen Rend is a land of turmoil. This continent lies West of the Land of Kilned Runes and contains the regions of Kelsarius, the Veridian Coast, and Zarosh. It holds a temperate, mountainous continent to the north while sheltering a vast region of savannahs and plains to the south, each holding strong volcanic activity across it's various mountain ranges.   Vying for control of the continent is the Ashguard Dominion, also known as the Kingdom of Kelsarius, a nationalistic and authoritarian monarchy who confines magic and religion to strict governmental bans while seeking to expand it's borders and influence at every turn. In direct conflict lies the Alltribe, a group of monstrous races who've formed a large faction of outlanders, shamans and druids who seek to preserve their ways and traditions from imperial intersection. Finally, the Eastern ports are ruled by the trade-oriented city-states of the Chroma Concordat, a society of exotic races united under the principles of freedom and equality in a tenuous non-aggression pact with the Ashguard Dominion.

The Isle of Red Reeds

Main Article: The Isle of Red Reeds   The ancient reedlands of Kano are an archipelago of spiritual nature, the distinguishing features of the island and neighboring landmasses being their crimson plant life ranging from the trees above and the grass below. This phenomena is said in myth to come from shattered remnants of the dragonrune of nature, it's shards embedding themselves within the soil and rock causing not only vegetation to grow abundent and red, but also give life to few of it creating nature spirits who guard the wilds of the land. While this crimson grass may create a beautiful phenomena in the isle's landscape, it doubles as a reminder of the consistent war and conflict found within it's shores. The blood spilled by factions vying for power and predatory demons feasting amongst the innocent spill into the grass and dissapear into it's crimson hue, the remnants of mortal ichor staining the reeds they walk amongst.   After the fall of their emperor, the various houses of Kano split and desented into chaos amongst the scraps of a great empire. Their forces divided into factions at eachothers throats, friends turned against friends and brothers turned against sisters, each one aiming to take what remains of the throne for themselves to lead the reedlands into a new age of prosperity, but only doing further throwing it into calamity. The houses are divided amongst the three primary regions of the Isle of Red Reeds; to the Northwest there is the Kashuri Highlands, sprawling mountain ranges, plateaus, and forests that sit above the Catha-Yin Lowlands' irrigated estuaries and vast plains of reeds. Seperated from each of them however is the Wastes of Navori, dangerous, Yokai-infested mires and badlands where only the strong survive and the nigh-immortal prosper.
