The "Wall" of Tel'Rhea
Walls do not surround the City of Life, but, instead, a barren ring of almost charred looking earth surrounds it. Just inside this ring and along the main road is a posted guardhouse, built up around a relatively large tree that stands alone in the more open fields of this part of the city. It bears the familiar sloping green-shingled roofs of the other buildings, but these appear to be reinforced and the walls are of a thicker white stone. A tower extends up through the canopy of the tree itself, providing a convenient lookout for the guards and watchmen that reside within.
The guardhouse includes barracks, an armory, and a spiral stairwell up to the top of the watchtower. There are multiple robes and rigging systems set up throughout the trees branches, meant to allow for easy movement to various other vantage points. For the most part, however, besides the lookout posted, most of the guards hang out on the main floor of the house, tending to weaponry, processing paperwork, and overseeing the people who enter and leave the city.
The Guards
Although warforged are rare within the City of Life, they make up the majority of the guards and attendants along the "wall".- Clay – A warforged often found accompanying Captain Oriel to greet and record those entering and leaving the City of Life.
- Eden – Prefers to do the bare minimum to keep his job and otherwise freeloads.
- Neva – A young tiefling woman who prefers to stay within her lookout tower, legs kicked back and enjoying the breeze.
- Captain Oriel – A middle-aged, half-elven man who seems to be in charge of the guardhouse.
- Velvet – A nature-covered warforged with a knack for mimicking the sounds of small creatures.
