Material Eleth
While Elethian Mages use Eleth in its purest form to channel magical powers, less pure, condensed forms of Eleth can exist in primarily synthetic material forms. These forms require a stabilization medium, a pure paragonic material of the specific form of Eleth, and a containment vessel to concentrate Eleth into the material. The vessel must be associated with the Eleth, but primarily exists to protect the stabilization medium from defects and eroding purity. The most common vessel is glass, but oils, metals, and ambers are used for certain specific purposes.
Material Eleth cannot hold the purity required to be useful to Elethian mages, and attempts to cast from such reserves can be lethal. However, enchanted items built with the correct circuitry can be powered by specific forms of material Eleth. This has led to some forms of material Eleth, primarily Movement Eleth, to become the backbone of large industrial complexes dedicated to the creation of synthetic variants to power yet more industrial complexes. More abstract versions of Eleth, such as Knowledge or Mind Control Eleth, are difficult to synthesize, and are often performed in small, expensive batches for specialty applications.
While stable, synthetic variants of Eleth can be quite expensive, and their primary benefit lies in their ability to be used slowly over long periods of time. Less stable forms of natural material Eleth can be used for purposes requiring large output over short periods of time, using Eleth naturally stored in materials or parts of creatures stored in a stable containment vessel. These forms are used primarily for small-scale military and emergency applications, pushing a large burst of power through an Eleth circuit to actuate a short, yet powerful event. Natural material Eleth is almost entirely contained to elemental Eleth (Air, Earth, Fire, Food, Plant, and Water). Finding natural material Eleth for more abstract concepts is time-consuming and often requires specific, expensive components.
