Eladrin

The Eladrin of the Five Forests are the closest relatives to the elves of the material plane, though they are still incredibly different from their elven cousins. Eladrin, by nature, change with the seasons, though in their home in the forests they are able to choose a season to remain in via a ceremony performed within the forest of their choosing.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Eladrin, on a surface level, look somewhat similar to elves, with their long, pointed ears, average height of around 6'2", and smoother features. However, looking closer, eladrin have some additional features, including sharp teeth, glowing eyes, lack of a shadow, and sometimes antlers.

Genetics and Reproduction

Eladrin, while capable of reproduction typical of mammals, do not feel the need to reproduce very often, due to their lifespans. Occasionally, the eladrin will hold ceremonies in which children are conceived, which generally occur every few hundred years.

Growth Rate & Stages

Eladrin have uncapped life spans, with the only way an eladrin can be capable of death being through external means, such as murder. Eladrin are not considered mature until they are at least 300 years old, despite reaching physical maturity around the age of 40.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Like all fey, eladrin have an innate connection to the magic of the feywild, and through that, are able to sense any magic belonging to outsiders. Additionally, when on the material plane, eladrin are able to recognise other fey around them.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Eladrin have melodic names, such as Ayudin, Vaastan, or Pyrramer for men, or Telindraa, Malthruiia, or Aourae for women. Eladrin who have chosen a forest have surnames that reflect the forest of their choosing, such as Ignis for an eladrin from the summer forest, or Frost for an eladrin of the winter forest.
