Feywild

The Feywild is one of two parallel planes to the material plane, with the other being its inverse, the shadowfell. The feywild is bright, lively, and most importantly, deceptive. It looks open and welcoming, and thrives with its own communities and cultures, but these cultures have very specific rules to follow, and any outsiders unfamiliar with these rules may become enthralled in the allure of the feywild. Even for those clever enough to navigate it, the creatures of the feywild, known as fey, will often attempt to make deals with outsiders, giving them less-than-favourable terms before they let on. The inhabitants of the feywild themselves, or the fey, come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. There are pixies, fairies, and sprites, centaurs, satyrs, dryads and nymphs, eladrin, and many more creatures ranging from duplicitous to outright malicious. On top of all of this, the feywild is poorly mapped onto the material plane - the plane's poor connection to the temporal plane causes some hiccups. As such, time progresses strangely in the feywild. You can be in the feywild for centuries and emerge to find that it's only been a day since you left the material plane, or you can spend an hour in the feywild and decades may pass back home. Creatures of the shadowfell are diametrically opposed to the nature of the feywild. It may at best be physically uncomfortable for them to be in the feywild, or at worst, mentally fracturing. Even if a shadowfell creature were to remain sane in the feywild, the fey creatures are less than welcoming to any outsider, and shadowfell creatures are not only not an exception, but in fact exemplary of this rule. Often, shadowfell creatures are attacked on sight in the feywild. The feywild does have some additional land not correlated to the material plane. This land, known as the Core Territory, is home to some of the more unique geography of the feywild. This includes, most notable, the five forests, the four rivers, and of course, the Seelie and Unseelie glades, home to the Seelie and Unseelie courts.
