Airidh (AHR̃-ee)

Elves are known to have a deep connection to the nature around them, and sometimes that connection can lead to romance; the airidh are the result of unions between elves and nature spirits who can take humanoid forms at will. Airidh children are marked as different even from other half elves with uncanny features and magical abilities inherited from their elemental ancestors. Little is known about the demographic as a whole as they are so few and far between and each is guaranteed a unique life experience.

Biological Traits

Unlike half elves with a human parent who can sometimes be mistaken for humans, airidh are clearly not the same elves as their parent. Their heights and builds are more highly variable than elves and is influenced heavily by their elemental parent: a child of an earth spirit may be taller and stockier than a human but an electricity spirit's child may be only slightly larger than a halfling. They are all able to see in the dark.
Skin tones are as variable as other half elves but may have other unusual qualities such as rainbow-colored undertones or glowing veins. Their ears are usually only slightly pointed and not elongated. Even compared to other half elves their features come across as "exotic" to the point of approaching the Uncanny Valley: skin may be unusually opaque or eyes may be slightly farther apart than thought to be possible. All hair textures and colors are possible like their elven parents' but can have other qualities such as glowing or defying gravity. Their hair may whiten with age and likely does not fall out. The presence of facial hair usually depends on the elemental parent's nature.
