History

Gemini Corus comes from Junction, a city-state at the center of the Elemental Isles and home of the suli ancestry - elemental people born to multiple elements. Because the Elemental Isles hold the suli as semi-sacred examples of balance, they entrust diplomatic and joint decisionmaking matters to them... and expect rigid adherence to their cultural ideals of "balance" to extremes. Some suli excel in this environment, but others struggle, such as Prince Gemini Corus, who could not hold such tight control of his elemental balance and emotions. Junction's leadership are decided in large public contests called Risings, and the suli study and train their whole lives for it. While the largest tournaments of them are physical, contestants are judged to have won or lost by more than whether they defeat their opponent but the qualities they demonstrated in the effort, and victories are sometimes granted to losers of duels in this regard. One such victory was granted to Gemini, who had been defeated by his sister Castor in their duel to assume the throne of Junction after their father - and instead of accepting, Gemini became angry and refused the position on the spot. Their father, displeased with the emotional display and disrespect for the adjudged outcome, came down and resolved the situation by sending Gemini abroad to attend the peace talks as Junction's lead diplomat instead. In the wake of the portal attacks, Gemini's role became one of active combatant as a portal user to defend Lastwish, and later as a humanitarian leader in negotiating for refugees from the dying other world to enter Lastwish. Incidents involving the unknown portal magic caused his body to mutate during the adventure, and he ceased to resemble a suli but instead a towering 10 foot tall man with long spikes emitting from his back, and was able to take portal magic into himself in this state. During the crises he met the god Loeraica Dawn, the then-drow diplomat, and fell in love. Over time he was said to have mellowed and gained a peace to him, which he says is due to a resolution he made of acceptance of self rather than repression. He taught martial artists of all walks in the mountain retreat of the umbral mages then, having no desire to return home and now far from their ideal representative anyway. When the gods had to leave for Elysium as a result of the Silver Flame crisis, Gemini chose to follow Loer to Elysium.
