The Viridian Kraken

Since the first settlers landed on Trast, ships lost in the Viridian Gulf have been credited to theories of a massive sea monster that rules those waters. Rumors of the beast spout that it is over a hundred feet long, and must be several centuries old. Some fishermen have claimed to have seen it specifically when strong storms blow through the gulf.

Commonly known along the western coast of Trast, but regarded by most non-sailors as nothing more than myth. Many believe the lost ships are just due to the strong storms that the monster is supposedly heralded by.

Variations & Mutation

Some say the Kraken resembles a giant three tailed tadpole. Others claim it is more like an angler fish, with a natural glowing lure hanging in front of its gargantuan maw which swallows ships whole. Still others have shared that they saw seafaring vessels being dragged beneath the waves by several long thin tentacles, or by house-sized claws dug into their hulls.

Mysterious statues have been erected along the south western coast of Trast, though it is unknown if these are offerings to deter the beast or religious symbols of a misguided cult.
