Albion's Religion

Religion in Albion is a messy thing to discuss and even talk about as the foundation of the civil war itself is religion. As such Albion for the most part has a set of sanctioned deities that have state sponsorship and support from the Tzar and his family. These deities were each chosen not for any part of their belief system but, because they are easier to swallow and be accepted by the public. While other deities are, of course, worshiped in the Albion, these groups receive no official support from government and are expected to pay any kind of taxes the local lords may impose. Unfortunately, this has led to a mass of underground deity worship as, especially in more remote areas, corrupt lords have taken to over tax these groups and not just the main churches and temples, but those that are found to be worshiping these, “unofficial” deities.

However it should be mentioned that there are some deities that are considered Pseudo-Sanctioned. These Dieties fall into this category mostly because of their connection to the world at large, and even other corrupt lords would stop and call a person going after these groups evil.
