Kalashtar

A relatively new race to E'ven-dra, the Kalashtar of this world are a result of of a bleeding between the waking and dreaming self of an individual. See The Dream Lands for more info on how sleeping and the dream realms work. But, the Kalashtar mutation only occurs among those races that have a natural sleep cycle, Elves and other that do not require sleep do not run the risk of undergoing this mutation. An individual becomes a Kalashtar sometime before birth, when the Waking and Dreaming self are still in development. For reasons beyond our understanding the Dream Self and Waking self of the child are not fully separated at birth. When this happens the child's Dream Self remains conscious in the Material and vise versa. Over time the two grow accustom to one another and become a Kalashtar.
Because Kalashtar is less of a true race and more of a condition it is best to think of them as less a full race and more as a lineage, like Hexborn or Fay Touched  and Dhampir  were an event in beyond the individuals control caused them to become what they are. For this reason when making a Kalashtar first consider the original race and then add the Kalashtar elements onto it in the sense of how the dream self has effected them.
