History

When black silver was first discovered it was thought to be just a uniquely colored metal. However, in the Age of Brutality, when magicians and sorcerers began to discover it was possible to store magical energy of different types in objects, they began to experiment with black silver. This caused a huge rush for the metal, when it’s magical properties were discovered, and because of this many cities and lords prohibited the use or own age of black silver and stored it away for special purposes only.

Discovery

Black silver was first discovered during the Age of Brutality, when the dwarves were mining more and more into the mountains in search of ore and metals for the building of armor and cities. It was discovered first in the Snow-top Mountains and in caves along the shores of the Carst, then later in the Oblivion Mountains.

Everyday use

This material is not commonly in use.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Black silver was used in many ways by sorcerers and wizards when it’s power was first made clear. Many of these included demonic or evil purposes and rituals, giving black silver a commonly evil aura.

Trade & Market

Very few people outside of specially hired tradesmen sell this material due to governmental prohibition. However, whenever a new ore is found, people tend to rush to the spot and sell it away as quick as possible, and it is possible to occasionally find a wondering trader with a small quantity he is willing to sell.

Storage

This material is simply but securely stored; commonly wrapped in soft cloths and stored in a strong chest or safe.

Law & Regulation

Black Silver, being a highly valued and very useful material is prohibited by many cities and laws. It is classified as being for strictly military and royal purposes only because of its strong magical capabilities. If a collection of black silver is found in someone’s possession, it is quickly taken and stored in a strong vault, and he is questioned as to his purpose and reason for having it.
