Personal history

Joseph Rogers was born and raised in Ireland. He married Sarah Rogers, and immigrated with her to the United States shortly after. They conceived a son named Steve, who was born in 1918. Joseph fought with the 107th during World War I, dying in a mustard gas attack before his son was born.   Due to his service with the United States Army, Joseph was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart Medal. After he died, Sarah had to raise Steve by herself, lamenting that Joseph left them too soon. She often noted that Steve was very much like his father, wanting to follow Joseph's steps as a soldier. When his wife died in 1936, she was buried next to him.

Employment

Joseph served with the 107th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army from 1917 to 1918.
