Sarah was born and raised in Ireland. It was there that she met and married Joseph Rogers. The two immigrated to the United States of America. They had a son named Steve in 1918. A few months before Steve was born, Joseph died during World War I as consequence of a mustard gas attack, forcing Sarah to raise Steve by herself.
Sarah worked at a tuberculosis ward as a nurse. She caught the disease, which she died of in 1936. Sarah was buried next to her husband.
