Session 14: Scherzo Report

General Summary

Saturday Morning January 24, 1925 - Sunday Evening January 25, 1925   As Saturday morning rolls around, we go to the speakeasy to see if we can't find out more about the individual Mukunga. Booker begins talking to an older gentleman, buying drinks in exchange for information. The old man says he works on the docks and that people who cross his path tend to run into danger. We learn a little about where to find him and what he looks like, as well as ascertaining that he was not the individual that approached us at the party. Booker leaves, but Edward waits around in an attempt to not seem like they're together. The old man leaves, swinging past Edward's table and warning us to take care, because Mukunga has the "juju" (whatever that means).   That afternoon, we rendesvous with Leviticus' Uncle, who has procured the private Medical files of Roger Carlyle from his psychiatric visits with Dr. Robert Huston. Those files, America Handouts which are #16 in our handouts, indicate a steady progression into madness, and an increasing unwillingness on the part of Dr. Huston to commit anything to paper.   We decide to stake out the JuJu House, Solomon posted up with his elephant rifle, Edward standing by with a sawed-off shotgun, and Booker looking inside (and possibly going to enter). As he approaches, a man runs up to him speaking in Swahili. Booker is unsuccessful in de-escalating the encounter, leading to Solomon firing a shot. The man sprints into the shop for cover and Booker sprints away (but hears voices or something from behind the counter inside, far more than could possibly fit within such a tiny shop). People begin poking their heads out as we make our escape, and nothing seems to happen afterwards as we retreat and plan our next move.   As Booker tends to his flock the next morning, the rest of the group goes to the docks to look for Mukunga. Leviticus talks with one of the dock worker supervisors while Solomon and Edward look (unsuccessfully) for their target. Solomon goes to enter the office there at the docks and sneaks in successfully. He checks for anything of interest in the filing cabinet and finds an employee file for Mukumga. One particularly interesting point of note was the fact that he does not have a SSN. Solomon writes down what he can before leaving, and we go to check out his apartment. We break in loudly and find a box with a strange creature with a massive tentacle in place of a face. We are then discovered by the police, but Edward manages to BS our way out of trouble. We go to the station and file a report, but otherwise are let off free.   Later, we identify the monster on the box as the Bloody Tongue, an avatar of the being known as Nyarlathotep. The followers will sometimes wear red scarves as symbols of their devotion. Edward realizes that he doesn't really know how he knows this, but he does. Inside the box, there are 3 vials of space mead, a liquid that allows humans to travel through the vacuum of space. We then begin our plans for the next stakeout of the JuJu House.
