Description
The Valsh are a native tribe of
Montbay (where they have been historically disenfranchised), eastern
Southmoor, and several isles in the
Sea of Stars. They were a sea-faring folk before their repression, and today thrive on
Erith,
Alnwick, and the
Isle of Song, in particular. Their numbers on the Montbay mainland have long faded, but they also still maintain a presence in their Southmoor homelands, especially around the
Chenau Creek.
The Valsh are unique for the veneration of their ancestors, rather than a significant focus on deity-worship. They view the Fey as guides in life, and place a strong emphasis on recording history, typically through oral stories. A Valsh warrior can be recognized by the jingle of the bells upon their armor, as more are to be added when greater glories are accomplished. These warriors abide by a code of chivalry which limits them to their peoples' defense, which has resulted in the Valsh clinging to their few remaining possessions rather than attempting to reclaim their ancient homelands.
The Valsh venerate
Dazjbogh. They have close relations with the
Hill-Wigs, and support them in their struggle for independence, though indirectly. They are recognized by
The Vale as "model tribefolk," mostly in contrast to the
Yelentsi, who have grown more hostile towards travelers in the nation's southern regions over the past few years.
