Xalgumath aligns himself with Bach'thal in a shaky alliance. His Tieflings will fight in the armies of Kaszastrix.

Xalgumath's forces will fight in The Dragon Wars and, later, the Tvinndreki Struggle, before Xalgumath is imprisoned around the 5th century by the Ones Beyond and the Tieflings are freed from his service.   Though this is often regarded as a stain against Tieflings and used to further racial prejudice, it's unknown how many Tieflings were swayed by Xalgumath's influence. Likely, it was a significant majority, though not an entirety. The amount of Tieflings alive at the time was also not likely to be too great, though accounts of Xalgumath's armies are scarce as his war was primarily a guerilla one.
