Dwarven Ironship

Written by Salen

The Dwarven Ironship is a class 90 warship that was designed for river combat and shallow lake warfare. The design is quite old and hasn't been revisited since its sound defeat at the Battle at Crystal River by the archmagus Salen Valari and his forces. The dwarves, while considering this a setback, have never tried to upgrade this ship. They consider the defeat a fluke and still insist that the design is flawless. The ship can move across land slowly and pass over running water up to a very strong current. This makes the warmachine ideal in deep rivers and shallow lakes. The Ironship has more problems in deeper waters, and has never been successfully used in the sea due to turbulent waves.

Waterline

The dwarven gearsmiths that designed the ironship planned originally for a low water line, and so this ship made of iron has a 20 foot line, which is why it does not perform well with waves. Against waves the ship rocks and dips well below the tolerable waterline, flooding the forges and stalling the ship.

Power Generation

Coal

Propulsion

Steam driven wheels that propel the craft through water and over land

Weapons & Armament

10 Standard black powder cannons, 5 per side, that can fire at passing ships (non moveable) two massive six shooter black powder cannons on swivel gear platforms with 180 degree range forward and aft.

Armor and defense

Plate hull is thick and can withstand spell and weapon alike. The iron plating is water tight and against all doubts, does float rather well.
