Dumris, Aspect of Passing
The Guide of Souls
Death is but another journey - and some are better made with a guide.
Divine Domains
As the Aspect of Passing, also known as the Guide of Souls, Dumris is responsible for guiding the souls of the deceased to their final resting place.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Their priests and priestess wear grey hooded robes. Due to the nature of Dumris's depiction many people used to bury their loved ones with a coin placed one each eye.
Since the rise of the Necromancer Tyrant, people have taken to burning their dead to keep them from undeath. Thus nowadays many people bury two coins in place of a grave.
Tenets of Faith
Many of the sick, elderly and mortally wounded offer a prayer to Dumris, hoping they will keep their soul safe and swiftly guide it to its resting place. It offers them comfort to know that they do not have to make their final journey on their own.
Holidays
Dumris does not have a specific holiday. They are, however, often associated with the Crossing of Souls in late Veiltear, where they are responsible for safely guiding the spirits of the dead from and to the afterlife.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
As the Guide of Souls, Dumris is responsible for safely seeing the souls of the deceased to their respective afterlives. However, not every soul can progress to the afterlife right away. When undergoing the Thiramin ritual, two people irrevocably intertwine their souls, leaving their souls incomplete. Although Thiramin usually die within a short time frame of each other, some desperately cling to life even after the death of their partner.
The souls of those Thiramin, whose partners still cling to life, must be guarded and kept safe until the souls can be reunited again. Dumris and his Guardians keep an eye on those souls in a safe place, making sure no harm comes to them - until such a time comes where their souls are reunited, and they can pass on to the afterlife together. So they never have to suffer being apart again.
Physical Description
Apparel & Accessories
Dumris is typically depicted as a tall figure wearing a grey hooded robe that covers their face, leaving only the eyes, which look like coins, visible. They hold a long staff with a lantern attached at one end.
Social
Social Aptitude
Dumris is a gentle giant who is very understanding, especially towards children.
I'm not sure where the notion that I require coins to ferry a soul safely to the afterlife comes from. Mind you, I enjoy offerings as much as my siblings, yet you need not pay me to do the task I was given by my creator. Ah, but you mortals have lost much to the many wars sparked by Callion or yourself. I suppose such is the way.
