House Medani

House Medani, a Dragonmarked House of Half-Elves, is indeed known as the smallest and youngest among the houses. Despite its size and age, its members are exceptionally widespread, occupying various roles as guards, researchers, advisers, inquisitives, and spy-catchers. This versatile house possesses a strong geographical focus, with the majority of its members being Brelish nationals residing in Breland.   At the heart of House Medani lies the Warning Guild, symbolized by the basilisk's eye, which facilitates the services of bodyguards and inquisitives. Medani advisors excel in risk assessment and management, protecting clients from both physical and social threats. While Medani shares some overlap with the inquisitives of House Tharashk and the bodyguards of House Deneith, the Warning Guild specializes in subtle threats and intricate mysteries. Baron Trelib d'Medani manages the guild's affairs from the Tower of Inquisition in Wroat, where the house aids King Boranel ir'Wynarn by interrogating prisoners.   Medani's members have deep roots in Breland, and they prioritize community assistance over power struggles among the dragonmarked houses. Many Medani heirs are dedicated to helping their communities and collaborate with local law enforcement or aid those who cannot afford their services. Despite its size, House Medani plays a vital role in safeguarding their clients and uncovering hidden dangers throughout Khorvaire.

Dragonmark

House Medani wields the Mark of Detection, bestowing its bearers with a range of magical abilities that enable them to detect and identify threats. This unique mark makes Medani sentries highly prized assets for nobles and royal families across Khorvaire. With their keen perception and uncanny ability to uncover hidden dangers, House Medani plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of their esteemed clients, making them an indispensable presence in the realm of protection and intelligence gathering.

History

The Mark of Detection, first appearing around −1500, manifested on the half-elves of Breland, but House Medani kept its dragonmark shrouded in secrecy. During the War of the Mark, House Cannith stumbled upon Medani and mistakenly believed them to bear Aberrant Dragonmarks.   Despite other houses' invitations to join as an official dragonmarked house, Medani initially declined, having little ambition beyond Breland's borders; however, persistent negotiations and veiled threats from the dragonmarked houses eventually led Medani to reluctantly accept membership.   Even after joining, Medani remained disinterested in the politics of the other houses and kept a low profile, rarely involving themselves in the intrigues and affairs of the dragonmarked houses.
