Tabitha Dragonthorn, Ex-Member of the Brass Elk Mercenary Company, Countess by Marriage.
She met the soon-to-be-count Gabriel ir'Rochefort in 987 YK. She, along with the mercenary company she led, had been hired to hunt down various monsters that had been terrorising the various small towns scattered around the County of Teryk. Upon completion of the mission, the Brass Elks came to the Rosefort, only to find that they had not been hired by Count Cyphis ir'Rochefort, but rather his son and heir apparent, Gabriel ir'Rochefort.
Tabitha would soon leave the Brass Elks due to "moral disagreements." She returned to the Rosefort, where she helped Gabriel ir'Rochefort in his plot to assassinate Count Cyphis ir'Rochefort. In 993 YK, she married Gabriel ir'Rochefort and became a Countess.
In 974 YK, she was in Rekkenmark when it was firebombed by elite soldiers of Thrane. Everyone Tabitha had ever known died that day, and she has not been the same since. As a result of that trauma, Tabitha developed a fixation on the suffering of others. After years of travelling with the Brass Elks, Tabitha revealed her twisted desires to the other members of her party (987 YK), and they rejected her. On that day, it was demonstrated to her that no one could truly accept her.
A year later (988 YK), when Tabitha was staying at the Bellicose Oracle Inn & Tavern in Teryk, she came into contact with Gabriel ir'Rochefort again. Somehow, Gabriel knew Tabitha's secret, and he undersood her. Gabriel told Tabitha that he, himself, also felt those dark urges. Unlike Tabitha, however, Gabriel had found a way to indulge, and he was willing to share. Essentially, Gabriel became Tabitha's patron. Gabriel would support Tabitha financially and, in return, Tabitha would use her combat experience to help Gabriel. A large part of Tabitha's support came in the form of her kidnapping commoners that Gabriel would sacrifice to his patron, the Archduke Moloch.
In 990 YK, Tabitha and Gabriel poisoned Count Cyphis ir'Rochefort. Three years later, once Gabriel's position as count was secure, Count Gabriel ir'Rochefort quietly announced his marriage to a commoner, and the two were married outside of the walls of Teryk by a priest of the Blood of Vol. The marriage was controversial, to be sure, but Count Gabriel ir'Rochefort and Countess Tabitha Dragonthorn told everyone that they had married for love. This is, honestly, partially true. Gabriel's primary reason for marrying Tabitha, however, is that his plans to return the Roseforts to greatness will require combat expertise more than political power.
The marriage ultimately helped Gabriel's public perception. His bloodline has a bad reputation for selfish ambition and villainous pragmatism. Most could not see how Gabriel could possibly benefit from this marriage, so they truly believed Gabriel's only reason for marrying Tabitha was his own desire. Perhaps, they thought, Gabriel was a new kind of ir'Rochefort.
Tabitha truly loves Gabriel and he, as much as he is still capable, loves her.
