Gwendifier

War Matron

Beauty

Gwendifier, the beautiful daughter of a traveling merchant, possessed an ethereal beauty that seemed to glow even amidst the chaos of battle. Her fair locks cascaded like spun gold around her delicate features, framing a face adorned with eyes the color of sapphires, shining with both innocence and determination.   Amidst the turmoil of the orc attack on the caravan headed toward Waterdeep, Gwendifier was instructed by her father to hide quickly. As the caravan fell under the onslaught of the marauding horde, she found herself thrust into a fight for survival, seeking refuge beneath one of the wagons as chaos raged around her. In the darkness beneath the carriage, she clung to hope, praying for salvation amidst the din of battle.   It was in that moment of despair that fate intervened, as a rival tribe of orcs known as the Tribe of Sword Mountain, led by their formidable War Chief Partagk , descended upon the chaotic horde with a vengeance. Their arrival caught the marauders off guard, turning the tide of battle and putting an end to their reign of terror once and for all.

And the Beast

Partagk's eyes softened as he beheld Gwendifier, trembling and vulnerable beneath the covered wagon. Her plea for a swift and painless death struck a chord within him, stirring a sense of compassion that belied his fearsome reputation as a war chief. With a solemn nod, he reassured her that he had no intention of bringing harm upon her. In a gesture of unexpected kindness, Partagk bid Gwendifier luck on her journey, acknowledging the difficult path that lay ahead for her. Yet, as she stood there, alone and without direction, he saw the flicker of determination in her eyes, a spark of resilience that refused to be extinguished.   Moved by her plight and sensing the goodness in her heart, Partagk found himself swayed by her plea. With a gruff yet gentle voice, he offered her a lifeline, agreeing to allow her to travel with him and his tribe until she found a safe haven to begin anew. Despite the risks and challenges that lay ahead, he vowed to protect her until they reached their next destination.

New Beginnings

The days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, Gwendifier and Partagk forged a deep and abiding friendship, bound together by their shared experiences and mutual respect. Gwendifier's compassion and kindness endeared her to the members of Partagk's tribe, and she quickly became an integral part of their community.   Despite the language and cultural barriers, Gwendifier sought to bridge the divide by tending to the sick and wounded of the tribe, offering comfort and care to those in need. Her efforts extended beyond mere physical healing, as she also endeavored to teach some of the tribe members, including Partagk's son Tarunk , to read and write, hoping to impart knowledge and empower them for the future. However, Tarunk's resentment toward Gwendifier simmered beneath the surface, fueled by the pain of losing his mother to a great evil not long ago. He saw Gwendifier as an outsider trying to replace the void left by his mother's absence, and he struggled to accept her presence within the tribe.

An Unlikely Romance

Despite their efforts to find a permanent home, Gwendifier and Partagk encountered numerous challenges and obstacles in their search for a village to settle in. Gwendifier's discerning eye often found fault with the villages they encountered, preventing them from finding a place to call home. As time passed, Partagk found himself drawn to Gwendifier in ways he had never anticipated. Despite his initial reluctance to acknowledge his feelings, he gradually realized that he had fallen in love with the gentle-hearted woman who had become such an integral part of his life.   With their love for each other blossoming, Gwendifier and Partagk made the decision to wed, uniting their lives together in a bond that transcended the boundaries of ancestry and circumstance. Their union brought joy and happiness to the tribe (all except Tarunk ) , and they bore a young half-orc named Gungus into their midst, a symbol of their love and commitment to each other and their shared future.
