The Order of Cyconkight (Cye-con-nite)
The Order of Cyconkight is an ancient group of powerful beings that is spread across Ecoth. They operate in the creation of Cytonknic and sell them to the rich and the powerful. Due to their supply of these useful sub-humans the Order of Cyconkight is mostly untouchable by any other organisations as their work helps build the basic inferstructure of Ecoth. Without the Order of Cyconkight the wealthy would have to do everything for themselves without the help of Cytonknic servants/slaves.
Origins
Little is know about the order's origins and records only date back so far. The first time the order is mentioned in documents is from an explorer in around -4800 who was documenting tribespeople within the Dynasty's teritory for the Emperor. He only briefly mentioned the order, and not by name, but described them as a group of bandaged primatives living in an abandoned Castle in the far north where the river Tarvuk met the mountains. Later documentations go into more details but little was recorded about the group in this time period.
Most believe that te Order descended from the tribes to the north of centural Ecoth. As a semi-nomadic people the order appeared to be ruled by a priest class and had a strong religious structure which underpinned much of their lives. The exact nature of this religion remains fairly unknown however, due to a lack of contact and communication with them. The Dynasty was clearly aware of the Order from an early date, however very few seemed to acknowledge the Order as anything other than another Northern Tribe.
The first significant appearance of the Order is the Dynal Civil War (-4735-30) where Emperor Nivshnot VII of the Dynasty became heavily involved with the Order. Historians debate whether he was manipulated or just mad, but after several meetings with the order he denounced the Dynasty's state religieon of Dynalism and claimed allegiance to the order, starting a civil war which fractured the Dynasty. The Order of Cyconkight was not heavily involved in the conflict itself despite Nivshnot asking them for military aid multiple times. As the war turned against them, Nivshnot and the Dynal Loyalists were pushed further north into the Order's teritories which led to the Order itself getting involved in some of the battles. The most famous of which was the Loyalists last stand at Fort Cryis, the headquarters of the Order. During the battle the fort was reduced to ruin from Dynalist siege weapons, taking the Order's largest settlement from them. After the conflict Nivshnot the Mad was exiled and the Order disapeared into the shadows of their underground networks in fear of persicution.
Reemergence of the Order
At this point the Order continued to be based under the ruins of Fort Cryis in secret, but also expanded across the boarder of the northern mountains into some of the Eastern States and other tribal kingdoms in the north. As a semi-nomadic people the Order was able to slowly expand it's influance inside other states without drawing too much attention to itself. This is how its people became so spread out across northern Ecoth.
It is believed that this is when the Order began experimenting with the creation of Cytonknic. This is the period where the Order as we know them today began to take shape and many members began to develop the ability to rob people of their right minds. Whilst little is known about the Order's dark years hidden away from the outside world, developing their science and abilities, we do know that they were weary. After thier defeat at Fort Cryis the Order was aware of the destructive power of the Dynasty and other organizations. Their leaders likely became paranoid that if the Order came under such an attack again it would be completly destroyed and so began the develpoment of Cytonknic, most likely to defend them from outsiders and hostiles. At this point the Order had no teritory to its name, living within the teritories of other outside powers, such as the Dynasty and Eastern States, which lead to more concern within the Order that they were vulnrable.
It is believed by historians that the Order planed to use the Cytonknic that they created to push the outside powers away from their land, allowing the Order to operate fully on their own teritory. But, by the time everything was ready, the Order had spread across such a large area its leaders deamed it impractical or unnecessary to ocupy, and instead favoured more diplomatic methods to secure the Order's security. In the year -4652 the leader of the Order in Fort Cryis signed an agreement with the Dynasty's Emperor Yanavous I which secured a peace between the two factions and gave more rights to members of the Order, which they had been lacking since the days of Nivshnot the Mad. However there were still some members of the order that believed that the outsiders wern't to be trusted.
In -4643 an extremist member of the Order called IVI took control of over 20,000 Cytonknic and tried to take over multiple kingdoms in the north west of Ecoth. He quickly wiped out a lot of nothern tribes and began moving south through Nona. The Nona put up heavy resistance but IVI's forces were all enhanced with high strength and coordination. The leaders of the order declared IVI an outlier and a traiter, agreeing to help the Dynasty, Nona and the Traiphotian Empire stop him. IVI's goal was to sack the Traiphotian capital of Traitin to throw them into chaos and allow him to take large regions of the north undisterbed. A large force from the Dynasty was sent by Emperor Yanavous I to assist the Traiphotian defence. Negotiators were also sent to the Nona in the north but they refused to leave their kingdom through fear of another attack however agreed to keep distracting the Cytonknic from where they were. As IVI moved south his Cytonknic pillaged the Traiphotian countryside, absorbing peasents and farmers into his army as he went. The two sides finally met at Gcrev Hill where the Traiphotians and the Dynals were able to hold IVI's forces, but were still heavily outmatched. The Battle of Gcrev Hill turned as the Cytonknic began to make progress against the Northern Allience. Tired and beaten the defenders were forced to fall back but thankfully IVI's lines were beaten when other members of the Order attacked from the north, flanking his Cytonknic with their own and allowing the Northern Allience to push back against IVI's forces where IVI himself was slain.
After the conflict of the Cytonknic rising many were intrigued by the Cytonknic's enhanced strength and unateral abilities. One such interested party was the Emperor of the Suhuvan Empire who saw great oppertunity within them. He asked the order to provide him with a small army of enhanced individuals, for which he apparently paid hansomly. This was the moment when members of the order realised that there was a market for the Cytonknic and began selling them for labour and service. However, Suhuva's mass purchace of Cytonknic did concern their historic enemy, the Traiphotian Empire as they had already seen the destruction caused by the Cytonknic in the Cytonknic Rising. Emperor Urt V urged for a meeting amoung major Ecothnic powers to establish wartime regulations around the use of Cytonknic. The comfrance was held in the year -4639 in the city of Vlorich, and attended by the Dynasty, Traiphorians, Suhuvans, Buzhanans, Wenstyri, representatives from the Eastern States, North and South Captirians and peoples from the kingdoms to the far west. The leaders of the Order of Cyconkight also attended as it was their product being brought into question. The meeting lasted a month before events had to be porosponed so leaders could go back to govern their empire's. None of the parties involved could agree on suitable restrictions for the Cytonknic and whilst the comfrance was put on hold Suhuva decided to act. In the summer of -4639 a large Suhuvan force crossed the boarder to the Traiphotian Empire supported by a small detachment of heavily enhanced Cytonknic. Infuriated Emperor Urt V called on the other Ecothnic powers for aid. Initially some just spoke out against Suhuva's actions but when the Dynasty and Buzhana showed signs of getting involved, Suhuva backed off. The meeting resumed that Autumn where many of the parties present demanded Suhuva pay reperations for its actions. Suhuva's actions swayed enough parties present to decide that Cytonknic should be banned from the battlefield as soldiers and fighters, making Suhuva's small army useless. This also disadvantaged the Order of Cyconkight as they had to find other roles for Cytonknic that people would pay for. Thankfully the order would be able to sell them as laborers and servants and so would retain its buisness.
