Brassjack

The Brassjack is a brigantine owned by Captain Kuschewicz, mainly used when performing commissions sailing The Merchant Coast. It has a brass dragon figurehead, with the wings spreading back across either side of the ship, and the dragons mouth wide open.   The ship features 2 pairs of ballistaes on the main deck, while an Endbringer Cannon is emplaced on the forecastle. Below decks, the Brassjack has 6 cannons on either side with accompanying gunport covers.

Propulsion

The brig has a set of sails as its only means of moving, which causes difficulties when sailing against the wind.

Weapons & Armament

2 pairs of ballistas on the main deck facing to the starboard and port sides of the ship. A set of 6 cannons on either side of the ship are located in the lower deck. At the bow of the ship, is an Endbringer Cannon. The brass dragon figurehead doubles as flamethrower.
  • Ballista - Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 120/480 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (3d10) piercing damage. Requires 3 crew to operate.
  • Cannons - Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 600/2,400 ft., one target. Hit: 44 (8d10) bludgeoning damage. Requires 3 crew to operate.
  • Endbringer Cannon - Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 1200/4800 ft., one target. Hit: 76 (12d10) bludgeoning damage. The cannon cannot target something within 100 foot of it. Requires 5 crew to operate. In addition, every creature within 30 foot of the target must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, or take 4d6 piercing damage and 3d6 fire damage from the explosion caused by the cannonball upon impact, on a success, the creature takes half damage.
  • Brass Dragon Figurehead - As an action, the ship can activate this item to create a 60-foot cone of flame that originates from the figurehead. Each creature and object in the cone must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Once a ship uses this action, it can’t use it again for 1 minute.

Armor and defense

The Brassjack has a reinforced hull, reinforced by a group of dwarves on Tila'thyu. Apart from the hull, other elements exist as they were when first constructed.   Multiple cannons and weapon platforms are on the ship. A row of 8 cannons on either side of the ships lower deck provide it long-range capabilities on the bow and starboard sides, while a set of ballista on the quarterdeck and main deck allow a wider degree of attack. In addition, the dragon figurehead of the ship is capable of breathing fire. By inserting a few pints of oil inside and lighting it from the ship-side, a cone of fire is able to spurt out from the dragons open mouth.   Small arms such as hooked crossbows, pistols and rifles are all common aboard the ship, as it allows the crew ranged combat means prior to boarding. The ship is particularly good in its ability to board enemy vessels, carrying a few specialty crossbow bolts for when wanting to do exactly that.

Communication Tools & Systems

A collection of signal flags are used aboard the ship when communicating with other vessels at sea. The ship also keeps a pair of messenger pigeons, normally used for signalling nearby ships or ports out at sea.

Sensors

At the top of the main sail is a crows nest, with the lookout there in charge of spotting nearby islands, ships or oddities in the ocean. In addition, the ship keeps a pet seagull that routinely flies out to find land. The smaller sails have a pair of platforms as well, though they lack any railing to speak of.

Additional & auxiliary systems

Below decks is a cargo hold, armory, surgeon quarters, cookhouse and privy.

Hangars & docked vessels

On the ships deck is a small rowboat with a pair of pulleys able to lift it out of or lower into the water.
