Elmar was born to a courtesan who used to work in the Beglieter Inn, under the watch of the previous madame. Her mother, Ada, left the business after she fell pregnant with Elmar. The inn happily provided for Ada during the pregnancy, with Elmar being born inside one of the rooms. The former owner Madame Shanairla, taught Elmar how to properly operate the inn, and ensured ownership would pass onto her after she died.
