West Kaguya [西かぐや]

A land of rolling plains and high mountains, split into East and West after a brutal civil war. Western Kaguya holds fast to it's own people and ideals, staying quite isolated outside of necessary trading, and strengthening their ancient ways and traditions.

Structure

Western Kaguya is ruled by the Empress Aka Juhi, and under her are the Iron Courtiers, also known as Tetsu-Jishin [鉄-侍臣] who manage the law making and appoint Iron Hands (Tetsu-Te) to enforce the laws.

Culture

In the past, Kaguyans prided themselves on elegance and calmness in the face of adversity, along with personal strength in all individuals. Western Kaguyans stick to these ideals, although they understand the importance of personal emotions.

Public Agenda

To maintain the traditions of their past, and tend to their own people.

Assets

Western Kaguya, while keeping mostly to itself, has found that the plants that they use for their traditional ink holds Mana within it extraordinarily well, so in their limited interactions with the outside world, Arcane Ink is a winning product, along with their delicious root vegetables.

Demography and Population

Kaguya as a whole mostly consists of Elven and Tiefling inhabitants, although many of the sole Elves have left for other lands such as the neighboring Hippolyta, and many other races moving in has resulted in more Half-Elven population than full Elven. Most other races stick to the larger populated areas, where they're less likely to stick out. In Western Kaguya, it's even rarer to see people outside of Elves or Tieflings, but in modern times it's increasing steadily.

Military

Western Kaguyan Testu-Te are trained in martial arts from adolescence onward, but are only accepted into the ranks at the age of 18.

Technological Level

Magic and Magitech advancements are plentiful in the capital, and begin to peter out as it moves into rural landscapes.

Religion

Both Eastern and Western Kaguya worship The Divine Court, worshiping astral entities tied to such things as seasons and seasonal patterns, although both sides have different interpretations of their meanings. Western Kaguyans view them as those who created and mandate the laws of the world.

Foreign Relations

When the civil war in Kaguya occured, it was due to two opposing views: maintaining tradition in the face of the new world, or opening up to the rest of Edda after The Border War. Eastern Kaguya is the side that wished to mingle with the outside world, leading them to do just that. While Western and Eastern Kaguya are on shaky terms at the very least, to the rest of the world Western Kaguya is an idyllic and secretive country.

Agriculture & Industry

The wide and fertile plains of Kaguya as a whole lends itself to a grand amount of farming for field vegetables and grains, along with animal rearing. Alongside that, Blue Steel production keeps those in mountainous regions in business. Outside of material production jobs, Western Kaguya is a juggernaut of artistry and traditional fashion.

Trade & Transport

Most of the pathways of Kaguya aren't paved, so most travel is either on foot, on steed, or via the rivers, or one can risk a very bumpy car ride.

Education

Western Kaguya has a mandatory basic education for all children of all races aged 6-16. From there, they are encouraged to go into apprenticeship.

Infrastructure

Before the civil war, Kaguya had been able to take a page of other countries books and begin installing plumbing systems. While smaller cities will not have ones as robust as the capital, they are quite functional.
