Grew up in North Hollywood, California. Mother, Jackie Hoyt, died when he was 10 years old. Father died in house fire when he was 18. Played as a Strong Safety for North Hollywood High Football team. Graduated with honors with help from his friend and valedictorian, Scotty Grundle . Started dating Karen Stromwell during Senior year of highschool. Attended LAPD Police Academy/Elysian Park until graduation. Graduated the academy at the top of his class. Worked with Lonzo for 1 day. Was then sent to a desk job at LAPD.
Later on Lonzo gave Jake an opportunity to help him in some secret base deal.
