"The poisonous word of Tarlor are not to be spoken and the writings are to be destroyed for heresy."
Rathiain Ylladi
Huer Scholar
Written in 1153 by proclaimed prophet
Morrius Tarlor the Sanguine Lexicon is a holy text of
Ziztarr, God of death.
Origin
When the lexicon was penned in 1153 Morrius was already being chased by the
Church of the Empire for heretical teachings. As a former empire and church scholar, he was initially familiar with the current teachings of Ziztarr in Huer and the first half of the Lexicon is devoted to contradictions of those teachings. He phrases this section in informed questions that cannot be answered without disagreeing with one doctrine or another and culminating with questions of the original teaching of St. Fildaerae. The latter half of the Lexicon is comprised of inspired teachings that set to repair the misguided faith of the Huer and new divine guidance from Ziztar on Death.
The
Church of the Empire actively seeks to destroy this book as it poisons their doctrine. Its inquisitors have orders to put all who follow these teachings to the sword and bind them for service. Ownership of the book and not giving it to the church is heretical and dealt with in a similar fashion. There are few remaining copies of the Lexicon and it is not known if the teaching ever escaped the shores of the Huer.
Claims
The prophet claims that the abomination of necromancy used by the
Church of the Empire to be wrong in the eyes of Ziztarr. All parts of the soul are to be given to Ziztarr to be taken to their afterlife. Death is the natural order, and cheating or violating it contradicts his purpose.
