Drassi

Those Cast into True Stadus to be Forgotten

We have come so far in the dark, imagine what wonders will await us within the light of Eiria. Imagine what horrors we have in store for those who wronged us and locked us away. Everything will be made right. Everything.
— The Lady Misery, Mizrina Argylan

Drassi are proud people, who are adept in most arts of magic use but most excel at Illusion, Destruction, Alteration, and Necromancy. Though they are still skilled at stealth, one-handed weapons, and alchemy when it comes to physical feats. While most Drassi will hate most humans and elves, other Eirians can sometimes fall into this column they are at least less hostile towards them. The Drassi no longer pray or worship Eidolon, since the general consensus is they forsook them many years ago to True Stadus, why should they care to believe in them?

Beauty Ideals

Women

Women are wanted to hold a very well defined hourglass figure. Hair should be either stark white or the blackest black, long and either left flowing or pulled into intricate hairstyles with Stadus Stones, precious metal beads, and other various gems. The most desired color of eyes being white or bright dazzling colors to contrast their skin tone.

Men

Men are expected to be tall and strong, even statuesque in terms of build. Hair should be either stark white or the blackest black, while kept either short or down to their shoulders, longer hair is not as desirable. Dark colored eyes are preferred due to the thought of the darker the eyes the more subservient to the Empress a man is.

Courtship Ideals

Most courtships are quick and used to grow one's station. Even for as long as they live, they are expected to marry off as soon as possible. Generally, suitors are presented by either names on par or above the station of the person being married off. While there is some choice of the person being married off, it is often dependent on the parents of the two suitors coming to some form of agreement.

Relationship Ideals

Whether friendship, business partner, or rival each person is treated the same. Copious amounts of dirt are to be dug up on said individual and held in private should one need to protect themselves or plot out their removal for the gain of either wealth or power. Drassi treat others often as stepping stones to gain favor. A lifetime friendship is often seen as two individuals who no matter the turns still speak to each other and hold regular tea meetings.

Common Etiquette Rules

Physical Greetings
  • Drassi like to avoid being close enough to another, in a society where climbing the ladder is often done via murdering someone higher up and getting their peers to either respect, like, or fear you; keeping your distance is almost a must. The most common greeting is placing a fist over your heart and bowing your head slightly, the lower ranked Drassi closing their eyes or adverting them.
  • On a personal level some Drassi will warmly greet their family members but this is done in private. Hugs, kisses on the cheek, displays of affection are done in private.
Verbal Greetings
  • It is commonplace for a lower standing Drassi to address the higher standing Drassi first by Rank/Title/Honor/Ect and then introduce themselves. As it is a common thought that the higher you are on the Drassi ladder the less you think about those below you.
  • After your first introduction, it is normal to just address them by their Rank/Title/Honor/Ect and name then continuing on with some sort of conversation.
Emotional Demeanor
  • Drassi men are expected to remain stoic as possible, while it isn't taboo to laugh at a joke or make one, resting demeanor should be devoid of emotion. While Drassi women are meant to be seen as coy, mischievous, sly, or even sarcastic.
  • Drassi women are expected to be the life of the party, move through crowds and make people think they are welcome and wanted. Inner thoughts should always stay as such and being uncouth is seen as a poor manners.
Other
  • A Noble Challenge: When challenging another Drassi to combat, for their rank or title, or any other reason a Drassi can and will come up with to go after another. It is customary for them to offer their hand for a shake. While it would be frowned upon for a higher ranked Drassi to turn down a challenge it isn't unheard of. Turning down is simple, taking the fingers of the challenger and turning their hand to where their palm is facing down and the person being challenged to gently bow their head. Though if the person being challenged is female it is also acceptable to kiss the back of her hand or rings on her fingers.

Common Dress Code

Male Fashion

  • Heavily tailored, form fitted, cut to accentuate their build or make it seem like they have a statuesque build.
  • Ornate dark fabrics. Like heavy brocades, subtle embroidery, and textures.
  • Stadus Stone embellishments. Whether in the form of jewelry, embroidered onto the fabric, or even used as buttons, clasps or other closures.
  • Smooth, tidy hair, either into buns, ponytails, or left loose. Never truly ornate, always subdued in their look when it comes to their hair.

Female Fashion

  • Corsets and more corsets, if you can breathe easy, it is either not enough corsets or too loose of lacings.
  • Ornate hairstyles with even more ornate Stadus Stone hair bobbles.
  • Large statement Stadus Stone jewelry.
  • Majority dark fabrics but with splashes of bright colors.

Armor

  • The best armor is crafted from Deep Stadus Ore. Though it is not the only metal of the Drassi armor.
  • Just as ornate an adorned with Stadus Stones as the rest of their clothing. Often the more ornate the better standing you held in the military.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

  • Bonding Anakri: This is one of the few public know things about the Drassi's art of Flesh Alchemy. at a young age most Drassi are given by an elder of their family or someone higher ranked than their family an Anakri. Rite of Anakri is preformed where the Anakri is bonded to the Drassi. Allowing them to live as long as thier bonded Drassi.
  • Mandatory Military Service: While some higher ranked Drassi can get their families out of the service it is customary for a Drassi to server no less than 10 years in the military. Whether it is martial combat or spell casting makes no difference. Each Drassi is expected to be able to hold their own no matter the moment they are called. While many choose to continue in staying in the formed military, its is not seen as bad to drop out after your ten year service.

Common Taboos

  • Lesser Drassi: Having any sort of relationship with a Lesser Drassi outside of them being a servant, army fodder, bodyguards, manual labor, or menial labor is not only frowned upon but could even hurt your social standing.
  • Drassi and Non-Drassi Pairings: While it is not uncommon for Drassi men and women to indulge in enjoying other races so long as its not really spoken about in public. They are often quick moments and the Non-Drassi finding themselves killed off or worse. Mostly to ensue a child is not brought into the world.
  • Half-Breeds: Children of Drassi and Non-Drassi are more often than not killed off before birth. Female Drassi who bare half-breeds are often killed before the birth of what Drassi considers abominations. For those born outside of Drassi borders, their lives are often harsh and stepping back onto Drassi lands is a death sentence.

History

The Drassi started out as equals with their Elven brethren, or at least that is what they were told. For many years they lived peacefully next to their kin. When the war with the humans came about, the Drassi were against settling with the lesser beings. The Elves soon figured out that the Drassi would never back down in the fight of what they deemed lesser beings. Tensions had been growing for years but the final straw was the truce. Most Drassi had been used as midnight assassins and night warriors.   Vorn Vrammyr was the leader of the Drassi at the time the Elves made a pack with humans to stop the war. Vorn vowed to have the head of every human in the world of Eiria. The ruler of the Elves made a pact with the Eidolons, to seal the Drassi in the underground world of Stadus. In the wake of the battle between the Elves and Drassi, some of the races that the Drassi had met chose to side with them. Once the Drassi and some of the Draconians, Orcs, and Minotaurs pushed into the underground world of Stadus, it was sealed by the Eidolon of Trickery and the Eidolon of Passage. Once they had sealed them in Stadus, the Elves erased all record of the Drassi from history.   The Orcs and Draconians that were forced into the Stadus changed; their looks became wilder than the above Stadus dwellers. While the Drassi worked through many failed attempts to escape the world of Stadus.   Years passed as they built great cities, and started uniting the Goblins to their cause of freedom and reclaiming the world of Eiria. Soon they began experimenting on Orcs, Minotaurs, Goblins and even lower classed Drassi. A young Drassi woman, Mizrina Argylan, soon rose to power in the Drassi world. Slowly finding ways to crack the Eidolon barrier, Mizrina vowed to free them and return them to their rightful place in Eiria.   Once the Lady Misery had freed her people, she found the world in revolt against some silly little human empire. Seeing her chance she took her army and begin removing the human empire. Once the battles were won she began plans of taking over the world of Eiria. Though during this time it was revealed that Lady Misery was over 6000 years old and Tarn was in his 4000-5000 years of age, he was one of the first Lesser Drassi. Unable to continue the cycle of misery, Tarn acted, murdering Lady Misery in her sleep and taking his own life. Leaving a letter written to his daughter and current ruler, Tala.

Common Myths and Legends

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Lady Vrammyr the beautiful? I thought not. It's not a story an Eirian would tell you. It's a Drassi Legend. Lady Vrammyr was the daughter of Vorn Vrammyr, so powerful and so beautiful she could use blood to influence life to grow from nothing... She had such knowledge of Drassi Alchemy that she could even keep the ones she cared about from dying. Drassi Alchemy is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. She became so powerful... The only thing she was afraid of was losing her power, which eventually, of course, she did. Unfortunately, she taught her Right Hand everything she knew, then her Right hand killed her in her sleep. Ironic she could save others from death, but not herself.

Historical Figures
Lady Vrammyr
Remembered fondly as the first Empress of the Drassi, she was believed and is quoted as having the typical dark skin, which is important to the Drassi mentality. Hailed as the guiding light in the darkness and remembered fondly as the last of the Drassi people. Her vow to never rest in finding a way to free them was slowly corrupted by each following Empress. She was the reason the people rallied together, she was the reason the push to escape became the driving force of the new Dravassi Empire. Taking her family's House and turning it into a driving force.   Belreth Lueltarn
Had it not been for the Fourth Empress, he would have never been selected as Right Hand due to the fact that he was a Lesser Drassi. Often called Tarn he was one of the best Right Hands, silent, and observant of his Lady Misery. Often called brutish by the nobles of the Drassi, a mute by the common folk as he rarely spoke in public, and the perfect hound by various generals. Though he would be forever remembered as the person who stole away the crown jewel of the Drassi Empire.   Zesdriia Vornalla
Also known as The Dread Wraith or General Vornalla, she is known to the Drassi as a hero, while the outside world calls her a butcher. She was a known favorite of Mizzy and in line to be her Right Hand should her current one perish or no longer please her. Known for murdering women, children, men, old folks, and anyone else she was told to without remorse. Though after the death of Lady Misery she seemed to disappear from the Drassi lands, most thinking her dead and still fondly remembering what she did for the Dravassi Empire.   Talabeari Kiaka Noquval
While most have no understanding of where she came from they have accepted her as Lady Misery's heir. Her ascension into the role of Empress was often a source of contention for the nobles of the Drassi. It took a small war between the Drassi, Ezana, and Free City Folk to get the empire on board with her rule. Though once this conflict was over she did something rather unorthodox by marrying her Right Hand. Causing a small uproar but died down quickly as the empire began to settle down into a time of peace.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
While there is no doubt that the long-standing hatred of Humans and Elves for them sealing the Drassi in True Stadus. Ezana are another name on the list of least trusted along with Fjorn, while they don't as openly hate them as they do Humans and Elves there stands to reason they may become a more neutral race with them. Now the Lyrans, Lycans, and Dwarves are listed as neutral parties when it comes to the Drassi as there has been little to no interactions to fully determine their standing in the Drassi world. Orcs and Draconians will always be accepted back into their fold at the place that she belongs. Their belief about the Lamia is they are nothing more than a myth or legend.
