Larnwick-Haran War
The Larnwick-Haran War was a military conflict between the neighboring Jeltiri cities of Larnwick and Haran which lasted from 976 to 981. It was first declared by Lord Venitius Pallu of Haran and was ostensibly fought over resources, but its true nature did not come to light until much later, during the Fracturing of Larnwick in the midst of the Eventide.
The real cause of the war was the rakshasa Ladev-Baruvendri, who, desiring to unite the two cities into a metropolis from which he could claim great power on the material plane, and determining Haran's leadership easier to infiltrate, killed Lord Venitius in secret and took his form. He waged the war for the duration, also taking advantage of the experiments of an Erinyes called Sennapheythis, who unleashed many dangerous monsters from Delamett Forest, stretching the armies of Larnwick thin.
However, Ladev-Baruvendri's efforts were ultimately frustrated by the strength and leadership of General Lubash Grell of Larnwick. The war ended in a Larnwick victory on October 14th of 981. Less than two days later, Lord Venitius was found dead in his chambers, apparently of natural causes. Venitius's eldest son Vincent stepped up to negotiate a conditional peace with Larnwick. In the end, the two cities agreed that Haran must pay monetary restitution for fifteen years following the end of the war, Haran's military was never to grow larger than sixty percent the size of Larnwick's, and Haran must come to Larnwick's aid whenever called.
Wivvyrholdalphiax Adrex, who eventually became a hero of the Eventide and the key reason many of the secrets of the war came to light, also fought in the war on Larnwick's side, as a new recruit. His party's discoveries during the Fracturing of Larnwick eventually opened a conversation between Lord Vincent and Lady Rosalind Corvyre of Larnwick on how to restore the friendship between the two cities.
