Mechanus

Mechanus is the outer plane of the neutral alignment, notable for the widespread belief that it is the only plane that was built, rather than created by Evendur. Legends present that it was constructed, or at least heavily influenced, by Imennis, goddess of magic and artifice. In the most prominent cosmological models, the plane is shown as a ring eternally orbiting on its side, brushing against Arcadia and the Beastlands but very much separate from them.
Mechanus is inhabited mainly by constructs. These constructs work constantly to repair, upkeep, and duplicate themselves and one another, to a variety of ends. The plane has no sky, only a cavernous void filled with miles and miles of machinery. Some of these machines may create planar portals, but always with a purpose; random portals, as may appear in other planes, are not permitted in Mechanus, though portals originating elsewhere may connect to it.
The actual bent of the plane's natives is towards law and order, and it is a subject of debate as to how its alignment should be described, as the plane itself has no particular effect on its inhabitants or natural lawful compulsions in the same way that other planes do. However, many of its machines create similar effects in an attempt to establish perfect organization and structure. This has not always been successful, as multiple adventuring parties over history have reported evidence of past or ongoing conflicts in Mechanus, even plane-wide war.
