EooD Session 36: Let it Simmer for Several Hours
General Summary
Month 1, Week 3, Year 901
Day 9 in the Underdark
Still processing the sudden appearance of Jael's ghost, the Dark Souls split off to different parts of the tower for bouts of interrogations. Verity was suspicious of Nineveh and her new quarterstaff, the half-elf explaining that she was working for a fey patron known as the Lady of the Lake. Ninveh wasn't the only person getting the third degree from Verity that night. With Q's help she'd been interrogating Allexander over his dealings with the Baudissins. Allexander explained how he agreed to create some undead monsters to help pay off House Hainaut's debts, feeling like it was his responsibility to help the family through the difficult years while Marwen was away. Fiends like Gremory and Naberius were present at some of his meetings with the Baudissins, but Allexander promised that he never signed any contracts with the devils. Marwen's eldest had made a serious mistake in his attempts to rescue his family's finances, one that would have severe consequences. In a meeting with her cousin, Jael recommended that he be transferred over to Rakkan authorities as part of Father Eli's negotiations. Jael also visited Castle Baudissin to taunt/haunt Ereldra Baudissin, narrowly escaping capture from a magic circle. Day 10 in the Underdark
After a tense night of family drama and confessions, the party made their final preparations for the night's gala. Q helped with the cooking, Poolp purchased a dozen antitoxins for the party, and Nineveh reviewed some peace treaties drafted by Lando. Dressed to the nines in ballgowns and loincloths, Lachesis and the others kept their weapons close should any Baudissins arrive. As the guests made their arrivals, the Dark Souls assessed potential allies and foes. The Aribonds were 100% on team Hainaut, and House Ottonian may be swayed from the Baudissins thanks in part to an engagement with Yvonne. House Ripperda had benefited the most from the Baudissin's rise to power, and their patriarch would need some serious convincing before changing sides. Other families existed each with their own magical specialty, but they would side with whichever house won out in the Verschow.
