GHG Session 33: Allies and Arm Wrestling
General Summary
Month 13, Week 3, Year 918
Sleeping off their wounds from the fight with Monomakh, the Fortunate Five found different ways of dealing with the trauma from the fight and the archmage's crystalline conjurations. Reetma meditated over prayers offered by the elderly Dranaya, Ysmyrelda focused on her business connections, and the rest of the party started thinking about how they could best contribute to the safety and secuirty of Chusei Univeristy. Meeting with Headmistress Kyoko Hara on Monday morning, she offered the group with several missions set all over the Northern Territories, from wading into the pirate-ravaged lands of the Kiri Remnant to spying on potential rivals like Melusine and Oda Clan. The party decided to instead hunt down the remaining cells of Gruumsh worshipers in the Koulan Forests, it was something they'd dealt with before and it'd be more straightforward than many of the other missions on offer. Other topics were discussed, like Windred agreeing to sacrifice half her paycheck to hire Samira some extra help and Beguiler showing off his interplanar fish collection to Kyoko. Ys managed to even set up a meeting between the Headmistress and Loopmottin, very badly wounded from her botched teleportation up to Sanjuro City but eager as always to expand their teleportation business. Ys learned later that Loopmottin was practically laughed out of the room, and with a 30,000GP debt to Sardivelia she'd have to make her business work soon or face decades in Paoli's mines.
Loopmottin was consoled by her 'favorite non-customer' at a Gamerian pub near the lakes, meeting up with the rest of the group and Zan'kiri's devoted apprentice Frogina. Windred, perhaps after drinking one Joe Blow too many, decided to get into an arm wrestling match with almost everybody in the group. She won against Ys, but she lost all her other matches with Reetma, Zan'kiri, and even Frogina. While Bubbles concocted some monstrous creations with their nutella, the rest of the party made final preparations for their trip to the Forests as well as getting presents for the upcoming Ageless One Festival Week. Zan'kiri purchased a cart and a couple horses for the trip while Beguiler and Reetma visited Patrick at his flophouse to get a progress report on the scroll he was holding for Beguiler. They also had a pleasant chat with Patrick's neighbor Frogina, who had spent the previous week collecting spell components for Zan (including an undead sahuagin eyeball). Windred filed a Shroud report with a field agent that came highly recommended from Samira, but she was less than impressed by Nemuidesu's laid-back attitude. Prof. Quespa performed a physical exam on Ys and Reetma and their telekinetic gems, determing that the gems' powers could either be amplified or suppressed depending on how the adventurers felt about their unwanted jewelry. Reetma was willing to test the limits of his gem, and after some mandatory counseling sessions he started to think more about the kinds of powers and voices he wanted to pull from in future battles. As the final days of the year wore on, the party was getting and closer towards an expedition into the mysterious Koulan Forests...
