Lakefinder Session 8: The Laughing Angel
General Summary
Month 10, Week 1, Year 935
The party stocked up on provisions and made its way back to Qazvin to investigate rumors of an angel in the city. Eraji led the way back through the Campanel Desert, the party noticing more travelers on the road this time and that structures like the Ageless One shrine they repaired were once again in use. Less than a month after their fight against the sahuagadile and already the region was feeling more vibrant. A couple days outside of Qazvin they came across a giant ruined structure sunk into the sand, and after a couple hours of excavating they realized it was a propeller from a giant airship. Leena and Jaariko pulled a dying kenku from the wreckage and saved him from certain death. The kenku explained to fellow crowfolk Jaariko that he was a member of the Silver Beak, a pirate guild determined to lift the kenku's curse of flightlessness by constructing a fleet of airships. The kenku thought he had shared all this information in secret by speaking in orcish, but two-thirds of the party were immediately able to translate everything he said. So the group took Shen the kenku with them to Qazvin, letting him recover for a couple days more before he headed back into the desert. The party started investigating rumors about the so-called angel, learning that his rituals were performed every day at noon. The following day they saw the people of Qazvin assemble around a sewage drain, listen to a bad pun emanating from the drain before sacrificing a cow to the voice below. Everything about the situation made the party suspicous, especially as Leena remembered rumors from Gameria about corrupted individuals with a twisted sense of humor. That afternoon they decided to rest up and prepare for a journey into the sewers to meet the 'angel' face-to-face.
