Episode 34
General Summary
The party rouse Reena Taman and Harris Kanes from their dirt-naps, and after a brief discussion with Hespé and Ida, they all move out of the Ruins of Akai and into the The Slithering Wilds once more.
The early morning jungle is quiet, and the party manage to avoid any encounters, other than some magical vines and the piranha infested river.
By the time night falls, The Unlikely Association has made it back into the Okina Forest, where they rest for the night. During their rest, Leah has an encounter with a pair of hungry panther cubs, and Atlas notices some strange multicoloured lights in the far distance.
The party arrive in Okin the following afternoon, and Veda heads off to claim the Ankheg armour from the blacksmith. The party's extra travelling companions make their way to various taverns, and the two Reapers make their leave from the group.
The adventurers head to the Hunter's Guild to find out how their search for the Shadow Witches went. Yarren Jost reveals that they have found many signs of the witches passing in the forest, but have yet to locate any of the elusive spellcasters. They seem to be using high level magic to move incredibly quickly through the woodlands, and tracking them hasn't been easy. Yarren has managed to narrow down their search area however, and shares their next plan for exploration with the group. The party decide to head there immediately, and take Torleth Vanorin with them as a guide.
Torleth leads the party to the area of interest, and Atlas spots some fresh tracks in the dirt. Following the tracks, the party manage to catch up to a group of Shadow Witches. Leah transforms into an owl, and flies on ahead to spy on them. The owl manages to overhear an interesting exchange, and realises that the leader of this group is Verana, Godric's supposed birth mother. Verana is also holding a silver bow...
From the conversation, it sounds like the witches are planning some sort of ritual tonight. The party decide to give chase, catching up to the witches and ambushing them. The five witches with Verana are dispatched, leaving the hooded woman in a seemingly hopeless situation.
Verana surrenders, recognising Leah as the elf who took in her son, who she refers to as Kybal. Verana claims that she must get the bow to Morgana, and that her forthcoming explanation may convince them to let her go...
