Episode 47
General Summary
- Wake up in Farmview Tavern, Veda felt a very minor earthquake in the night
- Marie provides breakfast, informs the group that they are expecting a larger crowd for the group's performance tonight. Leah gives her a platinum piece to help with expenses
- Head to Gotcha' Investigations to speak to Drake Chosa one last time.
- Drake suggests that the group investigate The Old Forge, as their recent crafts have been uncharacteristically poor. The creature the party fought seemed to feed on heat, so possibly there is some connection between the hot blade that found its way into the sewer and the creature
- Her second suggestion is to investigate Nakaba Prison, as this seems to be where the lights came from. She suggests sneaking in at night, as getting arrested would likely cause more problems than it would solve
- Her final suggestion is to try and spy on a meeting with Greta Boulderfist. Apparently the dwarven leader has been visiting the government building next to the prison quite frequently of late, whereas it used to only be about once a tenday.
- Party split up, Atlas poses as a dwarf and helps out at The Old Forge. Brunhilde Steelforger, the lady in charge, seems to be struggling with the simplest of tasks, and is getting a lot of angry customers because of it. Atlas witnesses her throw a half-made (and poorly made) axe blade down a sewer grate, before returning with a completed one. It's clear this smith does not know what she's doing
- After perhaps one too many questions, Atlas leaves the smithy
- The rest of the group head to the Temple of Five, where Godric begins loudly preying at the statue of the Goddess. A volunteer asks if he can worship a little quieter, to which Godric mocks offence and demands to speak to whoever is in charge. Through a short and uncomfortable conversation, Godric manages to discover that there used to be a cleric who would conduct ceremonies from time to time, but he has not been seen in a while. The cleric went by the name Kinford Jawbreaker - a dwarf the party has already met and killed back in the Ruins of Akai
- The group then move on to the Hostetta Hotel, where they believe Devianne stayed during her diplomatic mission. After some more awkward conversations and sneaking about, the group confirm that Devianne did stay here, despite the place being somewhat akin to a cheap hostel. What happened to her exactly is still a mystery.
- The group meet up once more, and pose outside the prison as their bard troupe, earning a few coins while they wait for Greta to pass by. Eventually the Iron Queen makes her appearance, and through some quick thinking by Veda, they manage to get the attention of her entourage. One of the dwarven guards tells them that Greta may be interested in hiring their troupe for a yet to be announced event.
- Leah, in the form of a spider, follows the group into the government building, and manages to sneak into a meeting room with Greta. The dwarf is met by a strange looking man, who appears through a secret door.
- The man, although not explicitly mentioned, is believed to be The Architect. Greta begins the meeting by berating him somewhat, promising to pull the plug if she doesn't see more positive results soon. The Architect, nonplussed, hands her a palm-sized blue orb, which he calls the "Orb of Liberation". Apparently, their plan has already been set in motion - despite Greta not ordering it to be just yet.
- Their meeting concludes with the man, who Greta suggests is actually someone merely posing as The Architect, leaving again through the secret door.
