Displaced from an unknown home world that no longer exists, Latharian (more commonly known as "Angelkin") travel the spheres and find themselves as refugees wherever they land. Depending on the common beliefs of the land the Angelkin arrive in, they can often be seen as a blessing or a curse. Some believe them to be true angels, venerating or even worshipping them as such. Others, however, see them less favourably. Some are jealous of the Angelkin's seeming immortality and ability to fly, others still see them as simple nuisances, like unwanted guests who take up resources and space.
Despite their appearance, Angelkin have no celestial heritage. Some chose to act as servants of gods however, for good or ill intent.
Angelkin in Ekina
The Angelkin arrived in Ekina in the year 1852 KCB, landing in
Kureta by Spacejammer ship. Many saw their arrival as the herald of some new or returned deity, but over the years, this idea quickly dissolved.
The Angelkin were granted land by
Queen Irena Orbeck and allowed to build a settlement along the
Capitis River. This town became known as "Angeltaun" before a true name could be appointed, and it has since stuck.
After only a few years on Ekina, the Angelkin community was cordoned off, due to a clear issue with its residents - they were dependant on a magical substance from their home world to keep them alive, and the reserves they came with were quickly being depleted. Citizens of
Angeltaun became aggressive and hostile towards outsiders, and for everyone's safety, it was decided to keep the Angelkin separated.
Scholars both within and outside of the Angelkin community work to find an alternative to the magical substance that sustains Angelkins' immortality, but efforts have been fruitless thus far.
