Veda - The Nephilim
Veda's child - the son of a Tiefling and an Aasimar - seems to have some importance to... somebody. Cassandra's Notebook suggests that the child is a 'Nephilim' and may become very powerful.
Veda has acquired a scroll from the Arcanaloth Lepto which apparently contains some information on Nephilim. The scrolls read as follows: They call me the son of God, the daughter of evil, yet I am neither. I am loved for what I do, but feared for what I could do. My powers are unrestricted. I am a beacon, a scourge, and a weapon. I have withered with a touch, healed with a word. Ultimately I am power. I struggle to find my place, to be my own person, we all do... And, alas, we are of our fathers and mothers, alike and yet opposite, one decay and the other light. Indeed, the union of angel and fiend created a third essence. And we are those children. We are the Nephilim. We exist as half angel and half fiend, yet fully a new entity. And because of our lineage, they loved us. And because of our difference, they feared us. Within the trembling balance between love and fear is the relation of us to our fathers and mothers. The Nephilim roam the planes as warriors, but "weapons" is truly a more accurate word. My mother, the angel Auriel, raised me to do good in the world. But the half of me that is the fiend, constantly struggles against my will. We cause as much trouble as we end and thus are left as wanderers and nomads. We have no place in this world, no right to exist. And this is why I search for them, destroying each Nephilim on my world until I am all that remains. It is better this way, for all peoples.
A ballad discovered in the great library of Kain, references the birth of some sort of creature - a result of the coupling between devils and angels: Ballad of the Fallen Angels
In the secret labs beneath Nakaba, the group have discovered that the Nakabans have been monitoring and kidnapping tiefling children for many years. These children have been used for experimental purposes, as well as to use as weapons. Along this same line of research, the Nakabans have also been trying to create their own Nephilim. Confirmation has been found in the lab's records that it was indeed these people who attempted to kidnap Téo. Filth the tiefling has led the group to an area of the lab where the attempted creation of Nephilim took place. She believes that they were successful only a "couple" of times, and most of the experiments went horribly wrong. In the lab, the party have found a Nephilim - alive.
With Eva's help, Veda was able to convince Aurelia to release Téo back into her care. Téo is now living with Ely while Veda continues to secure her family's safety.
