Spirit of Resistance

The Spirit of Resistance is a potion created by the Barrel of the Faithful when transmuting Greamski. It is a very potent counteragent against most known poisons and can even be used to purify a posioned or rotten consumable. It needs to be used with caution though, as the possible side-effects can severely traumatize a consumer.

Creation Process

Who in their right mind let perfectly good Greamksi rot in a magical barrel, saw the result and decided "Yes, this might be something that will be beneficial for people to drink?"
Using the Barrel of the Faithful, the creation process is as simple as storing a large quantity of Greamski within the barrel for at least seven weeks. After this time, the high spirited beverage will have turned into a bright neon green color with a slimey viscosity. The alcohol content of the Greamski used wil have an effect on the intensity of the nauseating smell (higher alcohol content reduces the smell) as well as the viscosity or "slimyness" of the result (higher alcohol content increases the slimeyness). Experiments with Greamski based mixtures have yielded a few improvements regarding the smell and consistency, but overall pure Greamski leads to the best effects while reducing the danger of side-effects.   After the creation process, around 50% to 55% of the original volume will be left.

Usage and Consumption

Dying by the poison or drinking the Spirit of Resistance to heal myself? That is a very tough choice.
This potion is a highly effective counteragent against most known poisons. When consumed after ingesting poisons, it will halt the negative effect and neutralize all remnants of the substance within a few seconds. Because of its smell and consistency, the urge to dispell the substance immediately is very high. However, the consumer has to swallow the Spirit of Resistance and keep it within their stomach for this time, or the effect will be only partial. Ofcourse, if the posion was ingested, it will also be expelled which will often improve the whole situation.
We could protect every noblemen of worth with this potion from any posioning attempt we could think of- if only they would not refuse to eat or drink the safe, purified meal set before them every time.
In theory, the Spirit of Resistance can be used to purify any consumable from any poison. The food or drink will still be eadible and will keep its original taste, but the smell of the potion will only be covered marginally.

Side-Effects

Overconsumption leads to true visions of the future, usually prophecizing the death or injury of the consumer. This experience can leave a person traumatized and many live in fear of the accidents they will be experiencing. In many cases, this exact behavior has led to the circumstances of the accident itself, which has spurred some philosophical and theological discussions about fate and predeterminism in recent years. There are known instances of people avoiding their prophesized death, however.

Further Details

Tasting Posions
With the help of the Spirit of Resistance, the well known apothecary Hugh J. Tinnyborough created the best researched book about different tastes of poisons within food "Identifying Tastes of Poison for a Specialized and Directed Treatment" - all through self-test with the potion.
Improving the Smell
Due to the smell and consistency of the Spirit of Resistance, it is difficult to be used as an effective counteragent if people have a weak stomach. There have been experiments with a mixture of Greamski and Wine with the result of a more agreeable potion, but the effectiveness seems to have decreased in these cases.

Visions of Death
The visions of the future are in most cases just about an accident or an injury the consumer will experience. They will usually have a vague sense of when in the future this will happen. Seeing your own death is uncommon but will leave a vivid impression of the circumstances.
Cheating Fate
It is possible to use the visions of the future to change the fate that awaits the consumer. However, the conscious efforts to change the fate require the intelligence to understand the vision, wisdom to affect it and the spirit to not be affected negatively by the impending doom .
