Bait and Switch

Based on intelligence from Miko Tanner, the guild found a pirate clan at Fangflower Bay was preparing to assault the Furious at the first opportunity. Breac Sunfist came up with a complex plan. Miko would impersonate Breac on a diplomatic mission, at a time when all other Guild officers were publicly present elsewhere. Breac would be hiding in plain sight in the form of Veronica May (recently widowed and now retaking her maiden name of Appleby) from Lake Crystalmere, Veronica being the Furious' new first mate and ship cleric. A team of more experienced adventurers would be mixed in with the crew, and together they would stage a counter-ambush.

The Furious sailed into an unnatural fogbank gathering around the Black Shoals. There they were attacked by a white dragon, who strafed the deck before flying off. Undetered, they continued east through the Shoals until they were surrounded and struck from all sides by the dragon, a mutated shark, and several armored figures. A fight broke out on deck, with the dragon getting another breath off across the party.

During the chaos, the sorcerer-Captain Serean made his move, shrouding the deck in darkness and teleporting in several more crew members to jump on who they perceived as Veronica Appleby and attempt to teleport her out - seemingly unaware Veronica was actually Breac. The party was eventually victorious, driving off and then slaying the dragon, and dispatching the shark flopping about on the forecastle with relative ease, and they were able to keep Serean busy enough to prevent him from escaping with his mark. He was slain by the paladin known as Hunter.

Breac would speak with Captain Serean's spirit, who seemed strangely willing to speak with Breac once he'd dropped his disguise. His mark had indeed been Veronica, who he blamed for the loss of his daughter who he had arranged a marriage for. His daughter had absconded with Veronica shortly before her wedding, and had now fallen in with the cultists of Elanora's north, the Brotherhood of Steel.
