Rin's Guild report - 0.2.9 agf
Dead Waters
The brave crew sailed towards the island of the dead, the waters surged and rose strangely, and dark clouds roiled overhead.
Standing proud at the front of the giant fish Guppy, stood Rin the Fish Sorceress proud yet concerned. Behind her, the team was preparing their gear, and looking solemnly at the Island ahead.
- Tung, the Mountain Dwarf Paladin
- Eldora Wind the High Elf Barbarian
- Scuffy Fluffy Tail the Tabaxi Monk
- Kheius the Centaur Druidic Cleric
- Mabel, the Elderly Human Barbarian
- Farmer Amen the Human Ranger (and the Goat Butt)
After circling the island, Scuffy took out their mapmaking and surveying equipment and after checking the currents and the lay of the land and found a hidden sea cave below the cliffs and they found an entry.
There was a ship below, crushed and wrecked on the rocks and abandoned, but the party quickly climbed up the masts and through the hole at the top of the cave. Through the round opening, there stood a face of an undead creature staring back at them silently and peacefully, then he was gone.
Above, they found themselves in an ancient village and after recovering their breath, shadows were seen on the outskirts of the ruins. Undead creatures attacked! The party fought valiantly, as strange undead ancient creatures and the fallen bodies of the sailors rose again against them.
The undead creature again appeared, walking slowly into the forested pathway ahead, draped in finery with scepter and crown, he looked back at the party before disappearing again.
Then, the party moved up to terraces above, with tombs and crypts scattering the landscapes. statues nearby holding instruments of death. A misty cloud of fog obscured the lands ahead, but as Mabel moved forward, a huge hulking undead attacked! hacking with a giant executioners axe.
The party battled bravely, and against the strange amalgamation of death, they sensed a dark force at work somewhere here on the island, disturbing the dead. Finally, with a mighty blow from the arrows of Farmer Amen, the beast fell and the party moved quickly toward the summit where a green beacon grew brighter in the skies above. The ghostly king appeared again, walking into a tomb and beckoning for the party to follow.
Above, they broke free from the secret stairs in the tombs below, into a land over the clouds, the green magic lighting the whole area in a sinister tone.
At the peak of the cliff, the royal repository was the source of the green energy, and two Jiangshi Witches were channeling the bones, and dusts of the dead into the beam.
The witches noticed the party and floated over to them speaking in strange voices, they told of the parties doom, each finishing the sentences of their sister. it was unnerving!
Their job done, the witches cursed the party to die in this land and departed out across the sea. The beam collapsed, bringing the undead pieces together into a huge undead draconic form! The party battled against it, pinning it with Tung holding fast against it on the bridge across the cliff face, Kheius healing the party desperately as he galloped across the field. The two barbarians, Mabel and Eldora Wind leapt on either side of the beast, punishing it from both sides, as Rin rained spells down from above, and Farmer Amen pierced it's sides with arrows.
A fierce battle was fought, and the dragon eventually defeated, falling apart, as the bones and dust of the grave lay broken on the mountainside.
Then the Dead King appeared! The Party readied for a fight, but he greeted them as friends! and welcomed their help removing the ancient blight from the kingdom of the dead. His powers restored, he ushered the bones of the ancients back into the earth, and the island slept again in peaceful slumber of death.
He swore alliance with the heroes and the guild, granting Rin the Sceptre Key of power! the first key to unlocking the seal at the Lost Temple of the Great keys!
As a Final gift, the Dead King opened a great Transportation Circle to his island, should anyone want to travel quickly to the south east, he would allow passage through the lands of the dead, as long as they respected those interred here.
