Tanquary River

The Tanquary River is the lifeblood of the old baronies that used to be Braeland. Its links the western ocean to Lake Tanquary (and through it, the southern empire of Eal), @Pizol and the northern wastes, and the vast expanses of the far east. In terms of water volume moved it is the largest and deepest river on Elanora.

A common misconception is that the goods that move on the western ocean do so on the same ships that traverse the river. While it is possible to sail a frigate up the river as far as Tanquary Lake, more commonly goods change boats (and hands) at the various riverside port towns. Despite the fall of Braeland these towns remain prosperous enough to impose their flavour of civilisation on the land - at least as far as the local merchant guilds deem it necessary to do so.
