Teverius

Run to your sun, little one. When you blind yourself at her feet, you will see only me!

Of the Trisolune, Teverius (the Trickster, He Who Runs) is the most illusive and slippery. He delights in playing tricks on his siblings, especially Tymera, who takes even the slightest joke as a serious crime against her. One such trick he played involved reflecting Tymera's light back at her tenfold, which caused her to go into such a blind rage that she scorched the entire Material Plane. The intervention of their sibling, Tarveldin, and the veil of twilight halted Teverius and Tymera's tensions, though they squabble often enough to cause occasional eclipses.

Shining with Tymera's light soon bored Teverius, who was unable to play tricks while illuminated. Each half-month he runs from Tymera, getting far enough away that he is unseen for one whole night and can play tricks as his wont. For the next half-month, eventually, Tymera gains on him, until his whole self is bright and shining for a whole night. On this night, his form revealed, madness runs rampant as he tries to escape the radiance. By the next morning, he takes off again, and so the cycle continues.

Teverius, now unable to play tricks all the time, thus sought to find a way to ensure mischief and chaos runs rampant regardless. Every attempt to influence the beings on the Material Plane went answered by Tymera's radiance or Tarveldin's veil. Any attempt to make his own creatures failed too, for he had not the light of Tymera to give them life. Frustrated, Teverius looked to the Feywild, where his love of tricks and fun was reciprocated, and the fae creatures known as brownies met him. They were creatures of the night, like him, but knew no mischief: instead they were tasked with cleaning houses and helping farms. The humans they served treated them badly, and so they asked for Teverius' favour. He made them a deal: if a brownie were not to be left fresh cream in payment of their labours, he would give them powers to wreak havoc in his name.
