Tymera
To live is to love. And to love...is to burn.
Tymera (of the Trisolune, the Sunmaiden, She Who Burns Bright) is the beginning of all life. She is the sun, who gives life to plant and beast alike, passion itself, but at times she burns with a radiance that leaves all injured and weathered. At creation she was provoked to anger by her brother Teverius, the moon, who, fond of tricks, mirrored her light to become brighter than she. This invoked her wrath, as the mercurial Teverius intended, and she burned brighter and brighter, until all who beheld her were burnt away in her presence. It was ended only by her sibling, Tarveldin, who danced a dance so passionate that she was struck silent. On Tarveldin's plea, Tymera was persuaded to temper her passions, though she always burns brightly enough so that Teverius cannot escape her gaze but for a few days a year.
On seeing the passions of her followers and all others on the Material Plane, Tymera yearned to experience love. As bright as she was, her form was impossible to look at, and she yearned for the gaze of one who loved her, but each time she attempted to join the Plane she was rebuked. Her presence was too deadly for the small creatures that Tarveldin protected to be allowed. The Peaceweaver, seeing her sorrow, took pity on her. The next time Tymera attempted to join the Material Plane, she was halted in the sky as the times before, except now, her presence glowed in a kaleidoscope of colours at the poles of the world. For the first time, she was seen in full. All who beheld her wept in awe and joy, and to this day she delights in this attention.
Tymera's paladins and clerics are imbued with her great might. One such warrior, Ydellon Tar'Vintas, is known for great deeds undertaken in her name. As a young man, he quickly rose through the ranks of his kingdom, its name now long forgotten, to become a general of their army against the hordes of corruption. When the Lich King raised a massive army of the undead, it was Ydellon who rode at the front of the opposing army and called upon his goddess to imbue his forces with light to smite the enemy. Tymera obliged, hating the undead most of all things, for they are passionless and without light, and lit all the weapons of this army with a holy radiance.
