Accoutrements & Equipment

Each Goldfire monarch has commissioned their own individual crown, which they keep when they retire. The Royal Scepter is passed down upon retiring from office. This is a rod of solid gold, topped with a gold disc decorated with rays of ruby and topaz to symbolize the sun.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Only once in the kingdom's history was it necessary to force a monarch to retire. As dragons age, they become increasingly isolationist and hyperfocused on their hoard. In the year 487 of the kingdom, King Soren the Red was enacting increasingly ruinous taxes on the populous, and had withdrawn from the Advising Council. His nephew, a Dragonknight named Sir Ulrick, gathered the Advisory Council and challenged his uncle to a duel. The terms were if Sir Ulrick won, King Soren would have to vacate the throne and retire. If King Soren won, Sir Ulrick would be banished to the Gryphon Wilds.   Sir Ulrick successfully won the duel, and King Soren was forced to step down. However, Sir Ulrick refused the crown when it was offered to him by the Council. Since King Soren had not named an heir before being removed, the Council convened and heard the petitions of several claimants. The throne passed to King Soren's daughter Trista.
