History
Founded in the Year -1115 OV by a group of tradesman and clerics setting down permanent structures at the mouth of the Argum . The settlement was located uniquely well to trade with the inland of Thyr with easy acces via the Argum to the city of Grifton and further up to the dwarven cities in the White Peaks.
As trade grew so did Kriata what started out as just a few simple shops, temples, taverns, warehouses around a central dock grew quickly in to a large trading city-state . Under the leadership of the Woorku familly they started expanding westward along the river forming an small federation with Grifton known as the Argum-alliance . This federation stood until the fall of the Woorku dynasty and the rise of the Veari as the seat of power in Kriata.
Under the Veari the alliance was broken and the territory encompassed by its influence united in to the kingdom of Karat. Furthering the expansion policies set in motion by the Woorku the periode of unification started where the Kriatian armies conquered the entirety of what is the modern day Kingdom of Karat. This periode is sometimes referred to as the Time of unification . This culminated with the crowning of the first high king of Karat which marks the start of the Veari-reckoning.
Recently the city has fallen to a rapidly spreading disease known as the Devil's Sweat, causing the southern half of the city to be quarantined.
