High Elf

The High Elves have a history of treating other races and species as if they are worth less, and it is common that they consider themselves superior to others.   During The Great Disaster, they used magic to shield themselves from the dangers around them. They fortified themselves at the Location today known as Shafanor. Being the race that had advanced the furthest into the discoveries of magic from their intense studies, they used their knowledge to raise barriers to keep out dangers and force food to grow. They also killed and harvested a lot of beasts that attacked them during this time, making them one of the few elven subspecies that eat meat. Because of this, they managed to become one of the races that suffered the least amount of losses during the disaster, meaning that they quickly grew as a civilization. Because of this, magic quickly became a part of their culture. Among the finer folk, those who fail their studies in magic are shunned as failiures and those who do exeptionally well are treated like geniouses from a very young age.   Since magic was so heavily integrated in the high elven culture, experiments was something that naturally happened. One of the things they researched was fusion and what was possible with it. The high elves, having refused to help any other races during the disaster, faced a lot of tension from the other races and because of this wanted to strengthen their military influence. They wanted to create beings that were strong but also intelligent enough to follow orders and since this was a time before owning and selling slaves became a thing of the past, they bought slaves from different races and fused them with animals. Pushing the limits of what they could put together until the creature they created lost all sense of being.   One of the races that caught the High Elves attention were the Tabaxi, having mutated from regular felines and gained intelligence by doing so, studying them helped greatly in their research.   When the Angels eventually visited the high elves, they saw the horrific experiments the High Elves performed and put a stop to them. The surviviors of the experiment were taken south by the Angels and are today called the Beastkin.   Because of a history filled with refusing to help those in need and experimenting on other living beings for their own gain, many see High Elves as tyrants, despite the fact that over 1500 years have passed since these events. Thankfully to the High Elves, there are also those that believe that those living today should not be held responsible for the actions of those who are long since dead.
