Magnus Burton

Magnus is a strong and kind man who may seem simple at first but has interesting quirks lingering underneath the surface. He is an ex member of the The Golden Griffon Adventuring Company, where he had a Veteran rank, but currently he works at the Dameril Garrison alongside many others. At first glance he might seem stern and somewhat intimidating, but those who know him swear that his core is softer than his appearance.

Personal History

At a young age Magnus fell into the wrong crowd and resorted to a life of crime. Stealing from others and selling the stolen goods for money in the criminal underbelly of Dameril was both a form of entertainment and a way to rebel against the ideals and expectations of those around him. Alongside his friend Emma Talbot, they managed to pull of some impressive thefts despite their young ages.
Though his life took a quick turn as Emma left Dameril for a job opportunity elsewhere. Left alone in Dameril he sought out people to work alongside, and with time ended up in Ryker's Crew, where he spent quite a lot of his time. One of the members he became the closest with was Butch Rockford, who was a hardened man, plagued by the mistakes of his life that led him into a life of crime. With the advice Magnus was given from Butch, Butch seemingly became a second father figure for Magnus.
As time passed the gang decided to pull their greatest heist yet. Their plan was to infiltrate the home of House Silverhawk and steal an incredibly valuable item known as a Frozen Rose. An item powerful enough to freeze anything it touches, killing anything it froze. While Edmund Silverhawk was using this item in safe ways to keep his incredibly sick daughter alive, Maverick Ryker was planning to use it for revenge and murder.
Not wanting to stand by this, Butch convinced Magnus to not make the same mistakes that he did. Telling him to go to the guards and informing them of the gangs plans, making sure they are arrested. That way, Magnus could save his own reputation, and not be forever trapped in the life of crime. With Butch's words in mind, Magnus abandoned his life of crime and he turned to the Dameril Garrison. With the guidance of Magnus, Captain Joshua Roberts led an arrest on Ryker's Crew, and in turn gave Magnus a lighter punishment.
They gave him harsh training in manners, combat and the law. Recruiting him as a guard for a few years to have him make amends for his crimes. As Magnus had been part of the criminal underbelly in the past, it helped him out in his new line of work, since he knew where criminals took their stolen goods to sell as well as where they could go to hide. This earned him quite a reputation with both the guards and his former allies within the criminal world.
While he harbored quite a bit of favor with the guards, the same could not be said for the criminal underbelly of Dameril, where those who knew him considered him a traitor. Word spread fast and today both sides stand firm on their opinion of him.
Despite the respect he has for Captain Joshua Roberts and the other guards, he disliked the feeling of being told what to do and instead turned to contract work for The Golden Griffon Adventuring Company.
After a series of quests with the Golden Griffon, Magnus' past caught up on him, resulting in Sylvester Dalton kidnapping his sister Lilly Burton. Filled with guilt he decided to leave the adventuring life behind and turning to the guard, since Captain Joshua Roberts could put his family under protective custody until Sylvester Dalton could face legal judgement. With that he also returned to working at Dameril Garrison as a city guard.
